وَٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا سَنَسۡتَدۡرِجُهُم مِّنۡ حَيۡثُ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ ١٨٢
But those who deny Our signs - We will progressively lead them [to destruction]1 from where they do not know.

﴿والَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآياتِنا﴾ شُرُوعٌ في تَحْقِيقِ الحَقِّ الَّذِي بِهِ يَهْدِي الهادُونَ، وبِهِ يَعْدِلُ العادِلُونَ، وحَمْلُ النّاسِ عَلى الِاهْتِداءِ بِهِ عَلى وجْهِ التَّرْهِيبِ، ومَحَلُّ المَوْصُولِ الرَّفْعُ عَلى أنَّهُ مُبْتَدَأٌ خَبَرُهُ ما بَعْدَهُ مِنَ الجُمْلَةِ الِاسْتِقْبالِيَّةِ، وإضافَةُ الآياتِ إلى نُونِ العَظَمَةِ لِتَشْرِيفِها، واسْتِعْظامِ الإقْدامِ عَلى تَكْذِيبِها؛ أيْ: والَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآياتِنا الَّتِي هي مِعْيارُ الحَقِّ، ومِصْداقُ الصِّدْقِ والعَدْلِ.
﴿سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ﴾؛ أيْ: نَسْتَدْنِيهِمُ البَتَّةَ إلى الهَلاكِ شَيْئًا فَشَيْئًا، والِاسْتِدْراجُ: اسْتِفْعالٌ مِن دَرَجَ؛ إمّا بِمَعْنى: صَعِدَ ثُمَّ اتُّسِعَ فِيهِ، فاسْتُعْمِلَ في كُلِّ نَقْلٍ تَدْرِيجِيٍّ، سَواءً كانَ بِطَرِيقِ الصُّعُودِ، أوِ الهُبُوطِ، أوْ الِاسْتِقامَةِ، وإمّا بِمَعْنى: مَشى مَشْيًا ضَعِيفًا، وإمّا بِمَعْنى: طَوى.
والأوَّلُ هو الأنْسَبُ بِالمَعْنى المُرادِ، الَّذِي هو النَّقْلُ إلى أعْلى دَرَجاتِ المَهالِكِ لِيَبْلُغَ أقْصى مَراتِبِ العُقُوبَةِ والعَذابِ، ثُمَّ اسْتُعِيرَ لِطَلَبِ كُلِّ نَقْلٍ تَدْرِيجِيٍّ مِن حالٍ إلى حالٍ مِنَ الأحْوالِ المُلائِمَةِ لِلْمُنْتَقِلِ المُوافِقَةِ لِهَواهُ، بِحَيْثُ يَزْعُمُ أنَّ ذَلِكَ تَرَقٍّ في مَراقِي مَنافِعِهِ، مَعَ أنَّهُ في الحَقِيقَةِ تَرَدٍّ في مَهاوِي مَصارِعِهِ، فاسْتِدْراجُهُ سُبْحانَهُ إيّاهم: أنْ يُواتِرَ عَلَيْهِمُ النِّعَمَ مَعَ انْهِماكِهِمْ في الغَيِّ، فَيَحْسَبُوا أنَّها لُطْفٌ لَهم مِنهُ تَعالى، فَيَزْدادُوا بَطَرًا وطُغْيانًا، لَكِنْ لا عَلى أنَّ المَطْلُوبَ تَدَرُّجُهم في مَراتِبِ النِّعَمِ، بَلْ هو تَدَرُّجُهم في مَدارِجِ المَعاصِي إلى أنْ يَحِقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ كَلِمَةُ العَذابِ عَلى أفْظَعِ حالٍ وأشْنَعِها، والأوَّلُ وسِيلَةٌ إلَيْهِ.
وَقَوْلُهُ تَعالى: ﴿مِن حَيْثُ لا يَعْلَمُونَ﴾ مُتَعَلِّقٌ بِمُضْمَرٍ وقَعَ صِفَةً لِمَصْدَرِ الفِعْلِ المَذْكُورِ؛ أيْ: سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمُ اسْتِدْراجًا كائِنًا مِن حَيْثُ لا يَعْلَمُونَ أنَّهُ كَذَلِكَ، بَلْ يَحْسَبُونَ أنَّهُ أثَرَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وجَلَّ وتَقْرِيبٌ مِنهُ، وقِيلَ: لا يَعْلَمُونَ ما يُرادُ بِهِمْ.

7:179
وَلَقَدۡ ذَرَأۡنَا لِجَهَنَّمَ كَثِيرٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِۖ لَهُمۡ قُلُوبٞ لَّا يَفۡقَهُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمۡ أَعۡيُنٞ لَّا يُبۡصِرُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمۡ ءَاذَانٞ لَّا يَسۡمَعُونَ بِهَآۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ كَٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ بَلۡ هُمۡ أَضَلُّۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡغَٰفِلُونَ ١٧٩
And We have certainly created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray.1 It is they who are the heedless.

7:180
وَلِلَّهِ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءُ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ فَٱدۡعُوهُ بِهَاۖ وَذَرُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ يُلۡحِدُونَ فِيٓ أَسۡمَٰٓئِهِۦۚ سَيُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ ١٨٠
And to Allāh belong the best names, so invoke Him by them. And leave [the company of] those who practice deviation concerning His names.1 They will be recompensed for what they have been doing.

7:181
وَمِمَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَآ أُمَّةٞ يَهۡدُونَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَبِهِۦ يَعۡدِلُونَ ١٨١
And among those We created is a community1 which guides by truth and thereby establishes justice.

7:182

7:183
وَأُمۡلِي لَهُمۡۚ إِنَّ كَيۡدِي مَتِينٌ ١٨٣
And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm.
7:184
أَوَلَمۡ يَتَفَكَّرُواْۗ مَا بِصَاحِبِهِم مِّن جِنَّةٍۚ إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌ ١٨٤
Then do they not give thought? There is in their companion [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] no madness. He is not but a clear warner.
7:185
أَوَلَمۡ يَنظُرُواْ فِي مَلَكُوتِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ مِن شَيۡءٖ وَأَنۡ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَكُونَ قَدِ ٱقۡتَرَبَ أَجَلُهُمۡۖ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثِۭ بَعۡدَهُۥ يُؤۡمِنُونَ ١٨٥
Do they not look into the realm of the heavens and the earth and everything that Allāh has created and [think] that perhaps their appointed time has come near? So in what statement [i.e., message] hereafter will they believe?
7:186
مَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُۥۚ وَيَذَرُهُمۡ فِي طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ ١٨٦
Whoever Allāh sends astray - there is no guide for him. And He leaves them in their transgression, wandering blindly.
7:187
يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرۡسَىٰهَاۖ قُلۡ إِنَّمَا عِلۡمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّيۖ لَا يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقۡتِهَآ إِلَّا هُوَۚ ثَقُلَتۡ فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ لَا تَأۡتِيكُمۡ إِلَّا بَغۡتَةٗۗ يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ كَأَنَّكَ حَفِيٌّ عَنۡهَاۖ قُلۡ إِنَّمَا عِلۡمُهَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ ١٨٧
They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?1 Say, "Its knowledge is only with my Lord. None will reveal its time except Him. It lays heavily2 upon the heavens and the earth. It will not come upon you except unexpectedly." They ask you as if you are familiar with it. Say, "Its knowledge is only with Allāh, but most of the people do not know."
