لَمۡ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأۡتِيَهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ ١
Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief]1 until there came to them clear evidence –
﴿مُنفَكِّينَ﴾: تاركِينَ كُفْرَهُم.
﴿ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ﴾: العَلامةُ الَّتِي وُعِدُوا بِها في الكُتُبِ السّابِقَةِ.

رَسُولٞ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ يَتۡلُواْ صُحُفٗا مُّطَهَّرَةٗ ٢
A Messenger from Allāh, reciting purified1 scriptures
﴿صُحُفࣰا﴾: قُرآنًا في صُحُفٍ.
﴿كُتُبࣱ قَيِّمَةࣱ﴾: أخْبارٌ صادِقَةٌ، تهدِي إلى الحقِّ.

وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَتۡهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ ٤
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided1 until after there had come to them clear evidence.
﴿جَآءَتۡهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ﴾: تَبيَّنُوا أنُّه النَّبِيُّ الَّذِي وُعِدُوا بِهِ.

وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤۡتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ ٱلۡقَيِّمَةِ ٥
And they were not commanded except to worship Allāh, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakāh. And that is the correct religion.
﴿مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ﴾: قاصِدِينَ بِعِبادَتِهِم وجْهَهُ.
﴿حُنَفَآءَ﴾: مائِلِينَ عَنِ الشِّركِ إلى الإيمانِ.
﴿دِينُ ٱلۡقَيِّمَةِ﴾: دِينُ الاسْتِقامةِ، وهو الإسلامُ.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ شَرُّ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ ٦
Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.
﴿شَرُّ﴾: أشَدُّ شَرًّا.
98:7Page 598
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ ٧
Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.
﴿ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ﴾: الخَلْقِ.

جَزَآؤُهُمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ جَنَّٰتُ عَدۡنٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدٗاۖ رَّضِيَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَرَضُواْ عَنۡهُۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنۡ خَشِيَ رَبَّهُۥ ٨
Their reward with their Lord will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allāh being pleased with them and they with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.
﴿جَنَّـٰتُ عَدۡنࣲ﴾: جَنّاتُ إقامَةٍ واسْتِقرارٍ في مُنْتَهى الحُسْنِ.
﴿مِن تَحۡتِهَا﴾: مِن تَحْتِ قُصُورِها وأشجارِها.
﴿خَشِيَ رَبَّهُۥ﴾: خافَ اللهَ واجْتَنَبَ مَعاصيَهُ.
